Puglia Showcase 2012

Kidnapping is the Italian history of failure: we wanted to work on "candor" and we got to stage its opposite. You can do anything, be guilty of any crime, but just then convene a television to say "excuse me" in the foreground. A man walks into a kindergarten class and abductions of children must speak with the mayor because he wants to. We are staging a kidnapping Italian though. The pair of males of this story and decided he was induced to be the star of a significant event in the news a class held hostage in a classroom of a school. It is a farce. And maybe that is the problem.

One of the last masters of the international scene back to Apulia and debut in world premiere, the Lithuanian director Eimuntas Nekrošius. After dealing with extraordinary depth the theater of Chekhov, Gogol ', Pushkin and Tolstoy, and after the recent staging of Dostoevsky's The Idiot, Eimuntas Nekrošius compares with a great text, The Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. The Lithuanian director is a legend of contemporary European theater. His theater metaphor is expressed through dynamic performances, and visual expression, in which great attention is paid not only to the emotional interpretation of the actors and plastic, but also to the use of unique scenic elements in the work that acquire different levels of meaning .

In a ground floor of Bari, lives a family consisting of father, son, aunt and an eel, which consume their lives from the monotony and daily wickedness . Unexpected, comes a girl, girlfriend of the young, disrupting the internal balance of the area and draws upon him the violence of the family. With his arrival, the disappearance of eel coincide, which enters the head of his father and becoming desire, determination, led him to a sexual assault against the girl. Then, almost everything back to everyday life. The only hope, perhaps, is in the future.

SONNO comes from the attendance of two worlds, the visual of Francisco Goya and the visionary of Shakespeare's Macbeth. The need for representation from the beginning man was created in the absence of something or someone, so it is necessary to engrave an image and store it. The work investigates the consistency and the thresholds of the realm of the living and the dead, human and animal, and the subject of his portrait, and the logic of the sacred. Through the theater, the question of representation is open to our life and the portrait becomes a means of knowledge of the human being.
